What comes to your mind when you hear or read about Russia? A vast country, Putin, vodka, Moscow, USSR, oil, Siberia. What do you know about Krasnoyarsk?
The initial response is, "Where is it?" Even is you understand it's somewhere in Siberia, the concept is usually limited by the assumptions that it must be extremely far and incredibly cold. Oh, yeah, don't forget the bears out there in the streets. Let's be honest, mostly people don't have a faintest idea of what Krasnoyarsk is.
Beyond the country borders it's like there is no such city, ever, at all. And this is an honest reflection of our identity.

Surely there are some features, but mainly it's all the same like in other regions remote from the capital, with underdeveloped infrastructure and a focus on natural resources. Apart from the wishful thinking and lies, now here we have an industrial, resource-oriented region rather than a perfect place to live.
Wikipedia says that it's Yenisei river that divides Siberia into the Western and the Eastern parts, that it's Yenisei that flows through all the climatic zones from south to north, that there are camels living nearby the riverhead and polar bears living nearby the river mouth. Actually, at the city Yenisei does not freeze over due to the Dam, even when the temperature is about -47C. It's hard to breathe out there, but it's breathtakingly beautiful.

Also there are Stolby national park, one of the biggest hydroelectric power stations in the world, a zoo and lots of registry offices. There are satellites produced and a university holding about 45,000 students. To the north, there are the Putorana Plateau, Dikson, Taymyr, fishing and hunting. As Gulag camps heritage, there are lots of prisons and prison settlements at the region. Finally, Krasnoyarsk is also depicted at the 10-ruble bill.
There are many prejudices and stereotypes about our city and they basically have nothing to do with reality. The nature, the river, the unique people — almost every region has these.

The core ideas of the symbol are the geographical location of our city, and colors and shapes representing Krasnoyarsk. The red peaks highlight the etymology of the name of the city while the slogan emphasizes its unique location.
We live in the middle of the biggest country in the world. It's hard to imagine all these vast territories around us.

All the significant events in the world are happening around Russia. Intrigues are being woven and scandals are taking place around Russia. Russia is around inequality. Russia is around the West.
